Just at the mere mention of the word “uncomfortable”, it can potentially send someone into a space of anxiety, hesitation, and mental block. Uncomfortable may be associated with either physical or emotional pain. Uncomfortable may mean that something is unknown and causes fear and panic. The term “uncomfortable” for some may induce a vague uneasy feeling that’s difficult to describe, yet they know they just don’t like it.
So, how about we change the lens on the concept of the word “uncomfortable” and instead view it in another way!

Maybe we can associate the words “uncomfortable” with “challenge”. You may be saying to yourself, “What?! Wait, Angela, that still doesn’t sound much better!” Stay with me for a moment and perhaps it will…
Without challenge there will be no change. And there needs to be a reason for that change to occur or else we’d be just fine staying exactly the way we are! You may want to ask yourself, what is the change in your health that you’ve been dreaming to transform, and what are the reasons why you haven’t been able to achieve it? Was it because of not wanting to be uncomfortable? The fear of starting the process of change?
So many beautiful things occur in nature because of being uncomfortable and change: caterpillars turn into butterflies, diamonds form from coal, gorgeous flowers, trees, and cacti flourish in extreme and unforgiving elements…none of those results will occur without first being in challenging circumstances for a short while…and without that state of uncomfortableness the beauty of that transformation will never emerge!
Just like those wonders of nature, you, too, can flourish in a sea of change and being uncomfortable! And the secret is, it’s only uncomfortable if you think it is! If you’re excited about the process of the change ready to unfold in front of you then it’s exciting! If you’re having fun achieving each step on your wellness plan, then it’s fun! You not only have the power to create the transformation of your own health, but you also have the power to mentally alter the concept of “uncomfortable” from a negative and scary notion into to a positive idea to kick-start into the new you!
Let’s get comfortable with being uncomfortable and discover what beautiful results are waiting!
